Lacking Motivation? How to overcome your mental to-do list.

Some days you just need a push in the right direction, or in most cases, a switch kick in the butt.

If you are having one of those days where there are more things on your checklist than ink in your pen then it is time to do these 3 things:

  1. Breathe
  2. Clear your mind
  3. Find something to push you out of your current mindset

 

Number 3 is Important here. You need to find things that will push your mind in the right direction. Continuing to stress over your to do list obviously isn’t working. Thinking about your hardships clearly isn’t helping either.

How about try one of these ideas:

  • Write it out

– Just writing about something. Try to write about what is currently holding you back. Sometimes we can get so stuck on one thing and it creates a mental block. GET IT OUT

  • Exercise

– Spend 5, 10, 30 minutes on stretching or pop in an exercise video. Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphins—your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. Even if you spend 1 minute doing something as simple as jumping jacks, DO IT, you will start feeling much better.   • Distract Yourself

– Watch a movie, read a book, turn on some music and dance it out! Stop thinking about your current situation and distract yourself with something else for a minute. Sometimes a good movie can really help improve your perspective on what is going on around you (have you watched ROOM? Wow! Talk about gaining a new perspective).

 

In my case, one way I like to motivate myself to get out of my stressful mindset is by watching motivational videos.
